Our run-ins and roomy paddocks are just a few of the renovations. A strict vaccination and worming program, plus custom mixed feed ensure a healthy environment for our boarders.
BOARDING
We offer long term, seasonal and short term boarding opportunities. Whether you need a seasonal stay for your mare and her foal during the breeding season, a short layoff for your racehorse, or a long term arrangement for your prize mare, we are sure they would love to call Richards' Farm home. You can feel confident that your horse will have a watchful eye on them at all times. Being that Richards' Farm is family owned and operated; we call Richards' Farm our home as well. Your horse will recieve 24hr care.
During your horse's stay there are many different features you have to chose form. Whether your horse needs a large grass paddock, run-in shed, herd turn out, a grass paddock to themselves, stall, or a stall and turn out combo, Richards' Farm is able to offer you these select offers in a manner that fits your horse's needs.
Turnout:
Large grass paddock: Our large grass paddocks are full of healthy thick grass, along with plenty of room for your horse to graze and enjoy themselves. Our large paddocks also include a large run-in shed to provide your horse with shade in the summer and a warm escape from winter weather. We are also able to provide large grass paddocks for day turnouts that do not have run-in sheds. We are able to rotate between our large paddoks to ensure that they are never run-down and our horses always have the best grass our paddocks have to offer throughout the year.
Small grass paddock: Our smaller grass paddocks are also filled with thick green grass. These paddocks are ment for singal horse turnouts. They are large enough to provide enough grass for one horse to graze daily. A smaller run-in shed is also provided to provide shade and a warm escape from weather.
Herd turnout: Herd turnout is an important part of a horse's development. It allows a horse to gain social skills, become confindent and sure about themselves, as well as becoming competitive amoung other horses. These are all important trates for a race horse to acquire in order to become successful in their training and eventually on the track:
Weanlings: Becuase Richards' Farm breeds our own mares, we are able to insure that there will be a weanling herd each year. With this, we are exsperinced in raising young horses. We are able to provide your young horse with large grass paddocks during the warmer months in which to graze on, as well as our feeding program. During the winter months your weanling/s would enjoy home grown hay and straw(if need be), along with our feeding program. During this time your weanling/s would move along with our weanlings in our breaking program. Breaking horses from the very beginning allows for them to begin to enjoy learning and gain trust for humans. A good foundation will also aid in breaking as a yearling to a harness and aid in developing a mentally sound race horse. Our wenlings are also on a regular worming and vacs program.
Yearlings: We also offer the same herd turnout for yearlings. Yearlings will receive regular wormings and vacs. Breaking to a harness and jog cart is also aviable upon request for an extended fee.
Broodmares: Mares enjoy large grass paddocks with large run-ins, in which they are rotated to ensure that they always have the best grass aviable to graze on. While enjoying their days grazy and hanging out, mares recieve daily spot checks to insure that all are well.
Stall: Richards' Farm has a large barn which offers 24 large box stalls and 10 standing stalls. These stalls are all outfitted with an automatic fly sprayer and light. With the barns high roof, large door ways, and bars on the stalls, air is able to move through the barn very well. This keeps the barn well ventilated and cool during the hot summer days. The large alleyways are paved to prevent the barn from becoming dusty. The barn also has an indoor wash stall with hot and cold water, a stock for icing or other uses, a tack room, and a loft.
Stalls can be rented as full service, in which Richards' Farm will feed and water twice a day as well as clean your horses' stall once a day. If you wish to clean, water, and feed your horse yourself you can chose to rent just a stall. No matter the amount of time your horse needs a stall, a day, a week, a month, or a year; Richards' Farm can accommodate your needs. We also provide home grown hay and straw to our boarders upon request.
Swimming
Swimming is a great alternative exercise for some horses. It provides both a therapy and a cardio fitness workout in one. Horses enjoy the daily walk down our wood chip track to and from our pond for their daily swim. We offer day, short term, and long term swimming. With our large floating dock, horses are able to swim in our 18 ft deep pond.
